The Hive Honey CSA
Support our local beekeeping efforts and be rewarded with delicious raw honey by joining our CSA!
What is a CSA?
CSA means Community-Supported Agriculture - it is your opportunity to support & bring awareness to our vanishing honey bees, supporting local & beekeepers who are attempting to increase the bee population while in return, you receive local, raw honey and a chance to meet the be keeper and get involved in building your own hives too.
Why join our CSA?
By joining our CSA you are supporting and bringing awareness to the vanishing honey bee populations while helping our local beekeepers. For your patronage you will receive raw, local honey, a chance to meet our beekeepers, and educational information on how to start your own hives. The honey is made of any flowers my bees happen to visit, which is mostly wild flowers. It is natural, unprocessed and unpasteurized. Honey should not be given to babies under one year of age. With over 60 years combined beekeeping experience, Westside Bee Boyz is committed to educating and promoting urban beekeeping, honeybees, & other pollinators. We pride ourselves in taking a natural approach to beekeeping, avoiding potentially harmful chemicals & treatments.
How does it work?
For one share in the honey CSA you will receive 10 lbs of delicious honey. We expect to harvest honey once in mid-July and again in mid-September. After each harvest, the honey will be available for pick-up at various Chicago locations. Each member will receive 5 lbs of honey in August and 5 lbs in October. Exact pick-up dates will be announced a few weeks in advance.
All Subscriptions Also Receive:
Free admission to one field session in the apiary
Invite to our members-only honey tasting and harvest party
First access to limited-supply hive products such as creamed honey, honey water, limited edition honey, and other goodies
Where and when do I receive my honey?
We'll have multiple locations across Chicago you can pick up your honey from, one downtown and most likely one on the north side and one on the south side as well. We expect honey to be available for pick-up August and October. We will announce two or three pick-up time windows as we get closer to the date.
